Andrea Walsh’s sculptural pieces, made from slip cast fine bone china, glass and metals are immediately alluring. Their exquisite surface finishes, sleek considered lines and miniature scale, entice one to pick them up and directly experience their tactile, sensual qualities. They encourage a spontaneous response – often a desire to hold, contemplate and cherish them, much like fine jewellery or an intimate precious artefact. 

Her work often combines two relating components, an outer container with a central element within.  Walsh uses the alchemic qualities of the materials to juxtapose the visual clarity, purity and translucency between the container and the contained in her work. 

Andrea Walsh trained as a fine artist and glass designer. These different facets of experience reveal themselves in her approach to the specific display and configuration of her sculptures. Each sculptural work is unique, her perfect material execution manifests in the multiple kiln firings, hand polishing and finishes to the kiln cast glass and ceramics, which is juxtaposed with the use of an opulent 22ct burnished gold.  

Andrea's work is included in private and public collections worldwide including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and National Museums Scotland in Edinburgh.
